"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'" ~Robin Williams

We're rockin' headlong into Spring, and with all the petals and pollen dust everywhere, you know the plants are gettin' down in their herbaceous way! Let's hope this Spring season's a prolonged one. Summer will come soon enough, but for now the longer days and cool nights feel just perfect!

Thank You For Playing!
Thanks to all of you who participated in our events of the past several weeks, including the Maynard Downtown!!! Spring Stroll Event and our Suki "Pure Allure" Natural Makeover Event. The Suki event was a lot of fun, and very, very informative. Suki mavens Carolyn and Linda gave us the unexpurgated scoop on the hidden hazards of conventional cosmetic products, the ways in which Sukicolor® mineral cream makeup extends the philosophy of Suki's wildly popular skin care products, and how to choose the right products for your skin type.

A Winning Mom
And congratulations to Maynard Mom Julie McDonald, the winner of this year's Dunia Spring Stroll Gift Basket. We couldn't imagine a nicer recipient of our goodies, this year which included a Viterra Pouch cosmetic bag (recycled colorfully from discarded plastic bags), a polka-dotted bar of Indigo Wild "Mumosa" soap (deliciously infused with essences of orange and champagne), and a 10-ounce bottle of Pangea Organics Facial Cream (subtly scented with notes of Ylang-Ylang and Linden Flowers), all told, a value of over $65. Woo-hoo!

Darśana: Transcending Light in The Gallery
Now on display in The Gallery at Dunia is Darśana: Transcending Light, an exhibit of images drawn from nature but rendered ethereal by Maynard-based artist Gail Erwin. Gail applies monoprint and other techniques, some – such as cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, and solvent transfer – from the dawn of photography, to create richly layered and tactile images. Darśana: Transcending Light runs from April 29 through June19. Come and meet Gail at our reception on Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 5 PM; attendance is free and open to the public. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of Erwin’s art will benefit the New England Wild Flower Society (www.newenglandwild.org), America’s oldest plant conservation organization, dedicated to protecting our natural habitats and native plants.

Dunia in Boston Globe Magazine
Big news for a little store: Dunia was featured in the article "Green Shopping Spree," which appeared in the April 6 issue of the Boston Globe Magazine! There, in living color, were vibrant pics of our Kwytza Kraft Recycled Chopstick Bowl, Kenyan Recycled Telephone Wire Helicopter, and Inntrax Twig Crayon. Knocked us over with a feather, you could have, and we're completely indebted to writer Christie Matheson and photographer Wiqan Ang for lending us a smidge of their hard-earned karma.

With all this rebirth and positive energy in the air, let's get this party started!

Go on now, get yer green on!

Yours in verdure,
Paige and Deeds
